The New-age Search Engine: Eco-friendly Search Engine by

When you are looking for that vital piece of information on the
internet and there are loads of resources available, how do you zero
down on the essential information?-you take the help of search engines.
Type the keywords, press enter and voila, you have narrowed down the
search to the most vital. Search engine is the essential tool for
finding information over the internet.
With this all-important role that search engines perform everyday,
usage of them reach astronomical proportions. Researches are being
conducted continuously to find out how to make search engine operations
smoother and more efficient and it has given rise to the concept of
"Black Google". What is "Black Google" ? It is a theory that proposes
that by changing the white screen of the popular Google search engine,
from white to black, will result in considerable energy conservation.
While a white page takes 74 watts to display, a black screen will use
only 59 watts. The cathode ray tubes used in monitors, which are in
vogue in countries like China, waste a lot of energy when they are
displaying white backgrounds. The shift to black will therefore result
in saving energy to the tune of 750 megawatt hours per year.
The benefits of a black screen also lie in the fact that it has
anti-glare properties and is soothing to the eyes. When you are working
in front of the computer for long hours, your eyes need to be protected
from being over-strained and certain colors like black ,green, blue are
more easy on the eyes than others. Certain search engines have already
welcomed this concept, and are using black as the color of their
screens. Slowly but steadily it is gaining momentum as a concept. This
is the age of environment-friendly products with words like 'recycling'
and 'going green' being the new age mantra. With the threat of 'global
warming' looming over us, everybody is concerned about our precious
environment and the means to protect it. And even a small step towards
it is not insignificant in the long run.
As responsible global citizens, it is our duty to protect our
environment in whatever ways possible for us. Taking the decision to
turn to black screen
search engine
may seem such a small change but it saves energy and does make a
difference to us and our environment. So make your contribution towards
protecting your environment today-every effort, whether small or big,
counts.
